Child Dedications
Child dedication at Island Church is a special moment for your family, as you dedicate your child to the Lord and commit to raising them to know and love Jesus.
Why dedicate your child?
1 Samuel 1:26-28 is a key example of Child Dedication. God answered Hannah’s prayer by giving her a son and she remembered her vow:
“I prayed for this child, and the Lord has granted me what I asked of him. So now I give him to the Lord. For his whole life he will be given over to the Lord.”

At Island Church, we believe life with God is meant to be all about family. No one has greater potential to impact a child’s spiritual development than their parents. Our aim is to join with you and equip you to build a spiritually healthy home. We want to be your biggest fans, your strongest supporters, and your trusted guides as you raise your child to know what it means to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. With the blessing of a child comes a great responsibility to raise them in accordance with Biblical truth.
“Train up a child in the way he should go; and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”

What happens at a child dedication?
Through the child dedication service at Island Church, you are making a commitment as parents to lead your child into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. And as he or she gets older, you will be able to guide and help them understand what that involves. Parents are encouraged to invite family and friends to celebrate this moment of dedication. At the beginning of the service, Pastor David will call all the families up front and will speak on the importance and biblical significance of dedicating a child. He will also address the parents, family, and friends in the part they play in that child’s life. To close, Pastor David will pray over each child and family.
